I may be looking past the obvious, but if I go with 18X3.5 on the front and 18X4.25 on the rear what size tires would I be looking for?

 

Will a 4.25" width wheel and tire work on your bike? The narrow swingarms on the '07's may not hold that much width after you get the tire on.

 

Not sure, was doing a lot of reading and most say it will. I originally was looking at 18 X 3.5 for both. I would probably be safer that way.

 

160 tire is the widest that will work with no modifications if you can get it in an 18. It will fit in the swing arm fine it's the fender that limits you.

 

for the rear the 18x4.25 a 160 will fit with minor shaving of the belt guard - it may not be the ideal size -- the 150 will work better -- I had the 160 andf 150 on previous bikes -- some 160 had a slight wobble some did not -- never had a problem with the 150 - I would suggest you not get the 3.5 rear rim -- why not a 21/18 set up?

 

Heard to many complaints with the 21 on the front, not only here but a few other places. Still tossing around the idea. Just trying to see if there are enough tires available in the right size range. Hell I might even stick the the stock size. Gotta get new wheels. Hate the spokes, want to go tubless.

 

Check out this link. It might help you with your decision. I have had the 21" for a year in a half and no problems but understand your concerns. You could go with a 19" front like the new baggers have a little more wheel and less tire since you want to buy a new one anyway.

Your front will take the current stock size front tyre, so is widely available in 130/70. For the rear, as lkr0 points out, you bump into clearance problems. I have found that 160 tyres in particular seem to vary widely across the brands (my Avon is actually 167mm installed), not only getting close to interfering with the fender, but also getting darned close to the belt. A 150/60 will give more certain results, unless you want to mess around to get enough clearance.

 

on craigslist, in our metro, there are alot of stock cast wheels taken off by the customizers. cheap way out for someone to ditch the factory spokes. even see them with next to new skins on them. $$$ savings.......

 

exactly a 150/60 will be ideal -- run 21 front on all my previous bikes and never ever had a problem -- however I do like the the new HD rims that come on the 16 RG/SG --
