Default Question about rear suspension

1st, I have searched on this so no need to post use the search function.

I am looking to change my rear suspension and I just can't seem to find where the suggections for HD springs vs Standard is.

I am looking at the 444 Progressive rears, I have an 09 SG, stock height. I weigh 250, wife is around 175. So I would think HD springs but not sure. Any input?

Sure! A great place to start with questions like these is the manufacturer. If I were you I'd call Progressive.

Plus, the forum search funtion sucks. Use google and limit your search to just HDForums.com. Like this:

I have Progressive 940 shocks on my 09 FLHX and, luckily, they came w/STD & HD springs (bought fm HDF member w/ spring tool). I'ts the best of both worlds as (1) I run solo most of the time (STD spring), but (2) can swap to HD springs when loaded down. Call Progressive and see what they cac offer for your needs.

I read that if you are under 300 solo and 500 2-up, go with the regular springs. I ordered the HD and I might as well have been on a hard tail. Called Progressive and he sent the standards and the tool for $10 because the gal who took the order was not knowledgeable when I asked, while taking my order. He told me that their stocks were about ten lbs per spring stronger than the stock Harley springs. Call them with your info and they will suggest a combo to fit your particulars. be advised, this was on a wg, but I think they would know, regarding your ride. Btw, they work good on the wg. I run them -- no preload single (I'm 200 lb) and I screw them down a few turns with mama on-- 145 lb

This company by far makes the best rear shocks I've ever put on a motorcycle.
http://www.suspensiontechnologies.com/

They build them to your needs. Installed a pair when I was in Germany last spring. What a difference.

I was one the first to get their new shock that had an adjustable pre-load spanner nut. I don't see it on their site. It was supposed to have been released last summer.

Ordered them through http://www.ironacesspeedshop.com/
