Default Sirrus XM Radio

I purchased the Harley Sirrus satellite kit for my 2010 Street glide. I thought I had what I needed but then found out I needed another 130.00 cable plus a special antenna ground bracket. In the end I was not happy to end up paying $600.00 but it is what it is and I will complete the install this weekend. My question is for those using it without additional amps etc. I have the Boom speakers and the CD sounds great without amplification. However, the reception on FM Radio in VT sucks so I have nothing to compare it to. What do you folks with satellite radio and the stock system and maybe Boom speakers feel about the sound quality sound? Thanks for any input.

I love XM / Sirius radio. However on the bike it sucks. Reception, volume, and sound quality are all garbage.

Mine was set up with a BT4180 AMP and BT speakers in the fairing & lid speakers and I get the above mentioned results. I can't imagine what it sounds like without amplification.

Good luck.....

First off you need to replace the antenna to get signal more than 50% of the time.

Not getting a very good vibe here? For 600.00 I am hoping for something that sounds at least ok. Like the CD quality I get? Not necessarily way upper scale but decent

You're never going to get CD quality with Sirius, regardless of the receiver, speakers, or amount of amplification.

I think we have similar riding conditions, I'm in RI. Alot of backwoods riding with tree cover? The tree cover just kills the reception. My antenna was mounted here.

Yeah the reception here in VT in my truck with a factory unit is terrible. however, its much better than FM so I hope to get at the least equal reception on the bike? Sound quality in my truck is excellent though. My antenna will be mounted inside the fairing as its the Harley kit. That concerns me
