Trading my 14 SGS for an 09 Road King
#12
I have a 15 and they still use a cable clutch. The classic is still sold outside the US and you can buy the leather bags as an option. Which probably isn't convenient for you since the bags are 1200 bucks. Then you'll have buffering issues and will end up buying fangs, a new windshield and other endless mods

Any vehicle is about compromise. Trick is to get the one that has mostly pluses for your needs.
I have a '14 SGS and I get it about pros/cons of the fairing. Last time I used windscreens or fairings was 20+ years ago. For my case, I dig the integrated GPS and stereo features more than my dislike of the air circulation. This summer, I did appreciate the reduced blast of hot air, but still love full force of air.

I love my King...and the wind in warmer weather. It's a great cruiser around town w/o the shield and a capable tourer with the tour pak and lowers. Did an NC to CA a couple summers ago and it rode flawless.
Might want to get as recent a model as you can get. There are some nice '13s around. Whichever you decide...welcome back to the fold.
The Kings do not have hydraulic clutches yet, except for the CVOs.

Yes. Had a glide and am sporting a king now. Nice bonus is you don't look like everyone else.
