It comes with straps. You don't have to use them, but some do. I don't.

do you have to use tie downs with the Sears jack?

I haven't used the straps.

If I was going to leave the bike on the jack for any length of time I would (i.e. overnight) just in the event one of the kids got near the bike when I wasn't looking. Of course, the kids have been instructed that even sharing the same atmosphere with the bike is a violation. Coming close enough to actually touch the bike would get them in BIG TROUBLE [sm=badbadbad.gif]

The bike is quite stable on the jack.

If I am doing wrenching I normally use tie-downs, if I am just cleaning, I normally don't.

I ran accross a Larin lift ay motorcyclejacks.com for $179.00 It looks like a lot better jack and is lower than the Sears.

I have the Sears pro (yellow) jack and have no issues using it by myself from the jiffy stand after removing the platform extentions.

I have the red sears stand. I just grab the right side handlebar, pull it upright and slide the jack right under it. I don't use the straps as it's pretty stable. Would if I were doing some serious wrenching. Probably use the floor screws at that point as well. Yellow should work just fine although as others have mentioned, there are some very nice stands out there.

SEARS makes a Nice Lift - But you can find good ones cheaper Lots of places... I have a Ride-up lift by Kendon (won it on a Run) Great lift and it folds up to store in the corner... But they're not cheap...

I just got the Sears (yellow) Jack, could you describe the "One Man" proceedure for raising the bike? Thanks in advance.
