Alarm Helps... Pager Helps... Rotor Lock Helps.. Cobra Lock Helps.....

But if they want it.... They'll still get it... Leave it out at night... Sleep light next to your gun (lol)

I have spent my life working as a Independent Insurance Adjuster for Motorcycles Only working with most the major Insurance Companies... And after any BIG Ride\Rally I become very busy with thieft losses.... So far Laughlin River Run (last week) I have 4 claims of stolen bikes (normally I get 8 - 10 from that run alone)... If they want it... No matter what you do or use outside of pulling it in the room with you... They can Cut-Lift & Carry

Thanks for all the good advice. I figured the dealer was full of crap. I agree, if someone wants your bike, they'll take it one way or another. Up until last week I owned honda shadows. I prevented theft by parking among harleys. Who would take the shadow? Seemed to work well. Only had minimal insurance coverage, now I'm carrying full coverage and keeping the fob in my pocket. At some point I'll figure out how the PIN works.

Not to be judgemental, but someone from HD telling you to leave the fob in your saddlebags is an idiot. The only time I leave the FOB in my windshield bag is when it's at the HD shop...period. Otherwise, it's on my jacket. The fork gets locked if I'm walking away from the bike for longer than 15 minutes in what I consider an "unsafe" area (just about anywhere). Yeah, if they want it, they'll take it...but they may have to work a little. Otherwise, why not just leave the keys in the ignition, so to speak.

My dealer told me the opposite, and said make sure not to leave the fob in the bags/tourpak. Made sense to me, as it defeats the whole purpose of the proximity disabler.

I also picked up the Smart Siren II w/pager. While i won't risk my life to keep my bike, I'll certainly try my best to see what the hell is going on if i can.

lock it? Haven't locked mine in years in my home area.
Nobody in their right mind would steal it. It's just too noticable.

Unfortunately I know of two instances where harleys were stolen from public places. One guy took ownership the previous day. That has to hurt!

I always use the fork lock and my keyfob is on my keychain in my ****in pocket when away from the house! At home I worry less as I have to move a car to get to my bike, but its still locked and the fob is in the house, all protected by a rather large arsenal.
