If your getting a cough through the intake and starter grind on hot restarts then the starter clutch needs replacing.

Much Higher compression when hot - the 07 96" did not come with compression releases. If it's going to kick back, it will do it when it's hot. If starter clutch is going, it will reveal itself when it is hot.

I never read where he plugged the 02 sensors back in. PV runs off of 02sensors

Not necessarily. I use my PV to download tunes on my sons 06 Heritage and it doesn't use O2 sensors. That doesn't allow me to use the auto tune feature on his bike but I'm still able to manually tweak the map.

I understand that but the 06 does not have 02 sensors to run the ECM,the 07 does.the bike will not run right with out the 02sensors.

I understood him the first time. Yeah kinda hard to plug O2 sensors back in on a bike that doesn't come with them.

Sorry, I should have read your thread to the end. I didn't realize you replaced the PCiii with a PV. Now what my guess is, is that your compensator is starting to show signes of needing replacement. If it's not the compensator it's the starter clutch, and my vote is the compensator. Not a cheap fix for the SE compensator.

I'm just catching back upon this thread. But with the PCiii you may need to initiate a new map load, AND set the Throttle Position for zero and Max. This is one of the items most people miss on PCiii installs that causes odd problems because then the PCiii doesn't know when the bike is at Zero throtlle position.

It isn't had, but you do need to follow directions. You can do it with the bike not running. If memory serves me correctly you need to use the little 9v battery conector to supply power to the PCiii while you load the map and set the TPS.

If you've got free flow pipes and an open Air Cleaner, you really ought to get that PCiii working for you again. Also not that the first thing an ECM does on start-up is set idle speed a tad higher for warm-up and then settle down to 1K.

My mech replaced the battery, said it was getting weak on the meter. He disconnected my ECM and plugged in one off his own 07 RK still won't turn over on every hit. He replaced the starter clutch so now the grinding on startup is gone. Bike starts great but about every 4th or 5th try still caughs and spins for a few seconds before it fires. Checked the crank position sensor and that's fine too. Back to the drawing board as to what is causing this bike to not fire on every hit like it should.

Fuel filter?
Plugs?
Wires?
WTF?? Will update when it's finally figured out.

Do you have the large "ka-pow!", metal on metal sound when the bike starts?
That is typical of the 07-10 compensator and ok, but if you hear a lighter ka-pow when you shut the bike off or feel a bunch of drive line slack while riding the compensator or comp springs have probably failed.

Like mentioned in a post above, a faulty compensator will make the bike harder to start and it def will do it once it's hot.
