Default Smooth CFR question

Earlier today, I was riding in a group and a guy was bragging about his new CFR's. He said he bought them off of ebay for $499 which sounds suspicious to me. When I looked at them, I didn't see the CFR label/insignia on the top (also suspicious to me). At idle, they sounded good but not great.

I'm under the assumption that he was ripped off and sold a pair of CFR KO's for the price of $499.00.

I'm not certain but do all CFR's have the label on the pipe, identifying them?

My real issue is not really him but folks out there who'll sell the KO's or some other junk to someone online. I'm looking for the double fluted chrome CFR's but I'm limiting my search to a few sellers whom I trust.

Thanks!

Carry Faas products will always have the logo on them. My buddy bought the real deal CFRs and his had a DB rating on the bottom.

Exactly!! They will ALWAYS have the "CFR MOTORCYCLES" oval logo on top of the pipe end. And trust me the CFR's sound much better than any of the knockoffs (or at least the several knockoffs I've personally heard)

500 for knock offs ! when did they start selling them for that price? You should tell him so he can launch a claim with eBay.

I got my knockoffs off of Ebay for like $179.00. He got ripped big time.

Thanks guys. I really hate to bust the guys bubble. I went to CFR's website and looked at the smooth. I was hoping that maybe there was a production w/o the CFR logo.

Yeah, he got ripped off.
I've heard CFR's many of times and they all have a very distinctive sound and you can hear them rumbling while riding. His made a loud noise while idling but were very quiet while riding.

A man who's grinning and on cloud 9, how do you burst his bubble. Maybe I won't tell him but whenever I get my set, he'll then hear the difference.

Thanks all.

I've heard knockoff as well and they didn't sound the same. If I'm not mistaken the knockoffs were smaller also. The ones I seen and heard looked like 4" to me rather than the 4.5". The sound was noticeably different either way. I would tell him In private, at least that way he can ask for a refund and use PayPal to take action if needed. Someone somewhere will know the difference and burst his bubble, might as well come from a friend in a timely manner so he can do something about it. Real Cfrs will always have the logo. If there fake there will be a rivet facing outward, meaning when mounted on the bike there is an exposed rivet on the outside of the pipe. Real Cfrs don't have an exposed rivet.

Would that be 4 1/2 before the tips?

My double fluted are 4" ID at the tips.

I purchased from a reputable dealer, and they do say CFR on them..

Yes the fattest part of the muffler body itself is 4.5" the tips kinda flare in alittle so they probably don't measure 4.5".
