TruckLite P7 Headlight Very Dim??
#11
Thanks to everyone for the input. I sent an email to TruckLite this morning with description of problem and request for warranty process info. I'll update thread once I hear something.
I was afraid of this happening after I spent all that time installing my frenched trim ring with no gap.

No, but I'll do that when I pull the bulb. I just assumed it was full voltage since the lower high beam portion of the light seems to be ok. It's easy enough to check and I'm sure TruckLite will ask me to do that before returning the light.

Just a quick update to document this problem for future technical issue searches.
After looking a little closer at the light, I notice that there are 3 LED bulbs that illuminate the reflector in both the headlight and spot lights. In the dim headlight, only 1 of the 3 are working. This seems to be the problem. Waiting on reply from TruckLite.

Because of the holiday, I knew it would probably be Tuesday before they even saw my email. I'll give them 24 hours to reply and then call if I don't hear from them by then. Thanks very much for the number.

*** Update to document this problem for future technical issue searches ***
I sent an email to TruckLite and they responded the next day with a request for some photos. I emailed them the photos below and they responded the next day telling me the low beam portion of the light was defective. They also apologized, thanked me for my trouble-shooting efforts, and asked me to contact the distributor for a replacement. I realized after-the-fact that I probably could have contacted the distributor first and saved some time, but the distributor’s website stated that all defective electronic parts must be resolved by the manufacture. I mistakenly assumed this applied to the TruckLite.
I called Discount Fleet Supply the next day and told them about the defective light. They apologized for the problem and shipped a replacement to me that same day, along with a return label for the defective light. The new headlight arrived by FedEx the next day. I did have to pay for the new light and will receive a credit once the bad light is received. This was my choice because I wanted to get the new light as soon as possible.
Although this whole issue has been somewhat of a hassle, I have to recognize both TruckLite and Discount Fleet Supply for their responsive customer service and quick resolution of this problem.
My lesson learned is that I should be more thorough in testing new installations, especially when something doesn’t seem quite right. I noticed the light didn’t seem as bright as I expected right after the installation, but I just assumed it was normal because I was unfamiliar with this type of LED light. I had also read others describing how the low beam on this light was not as bright as other types during the daylight. My mistake was in not testing the low beam without the spot lights that first night. Since most of my night riding is done on well lit streets, the issue wasn’t obvious to me right way.
Thank you to everyone for your help and input on this issue.
