Default 14 sgs suspension is terrible!!

Man these shocks really beat the **** out of me. Cruising down the freeway, every bump in the road I hit bounces me off the seat half the time it hits so hard, sometimes has even knocked both hands off the bars, feels like I have no suspension at all. Don't want to spend the cash, but thinking about upgrading to new rear shocks (ohlins, jri, Howard at moto metal, etc), will replacing just the rear shocks with a better set designed for my weight and riding habits greatly enhance the ride, or not very much? Have the hand adjustable shocks set to the lowest setting, 180 lbs and ride solo majority of the time, and it is unbelievable how stiff these things are

Install Ohlins. Best 600.00 you will spend. Street Glide rear shock travel has always sucked.

I agree. I have the same bike. I did not opt for the upgraded shocks included with the SG Special. Combine the horrible shocks with the stock seat and we will need back surgery soon.

The stock shocks sucked so bad I was ready to sell the bike back to the dealer. I have a bad back and it was jarring so bad I couldn't ride it. Was going to spend some money on a set of ohlins but a member put a set of Harley adjustable shocks on here for around 300 bucks so I thought I would give that a shot before dropping a grand on rear shocks. Boy am I glad I did too. The bike is so much better now and the wife is much happier too. I will take the money I saved and take a trip out to Colorado next week.

I got my Ohlins for $500 delivered to my door. May be a tad higher now but I'd bet they are still under $600 , Motorcycle Metal. Don't go by the prices online, ask Howard for his forum member price.

Makes me feel a little better, was in shock when I saw prices from $700-1k for shocks. $500-600 is a little more reasonable. I imagine installing ohlins won't give it a nice plush feeling suspension, just help absorb some of the harsh bumps?

The 13.25" inch Ohlins have over 4" of excellent travel. The stockers have 2" of bad travel.

Progressive mono-tubes up front, JRI in the back - night & day over stock
All Harley riders usually make changes over stock, shocks is just one of many...

From Howard at motorcycle metal or any of the other places that sell them. It might be 650.00 I don't remember exactly. I have been riding them for two years and my back pain went away riding.
