I too can't believe how harsh these new front forks are.
A little rough road and my hands are jumping off the handlebars from the vibration. What to do about it though... I dunno.
Progressive mono-tubes up front, JRI in the back - night & day over stock
All Harley riders usually make changes over stock, shocks is just one of many...
Not interested in upgrading the fronts right now, one step at a time and just do the rear. Will just replacing rear shocks improve the ride significantly?
all harley suspension sucks. dosnt matter what year. i could understand somewhat on a 10 grand sporster and by the way they are not bad suspension wise, but on a 24k touring bike i expect much much more. its embarrassing on Harley Davidson part. Sad

Man these shocks really beat the **** out of me. Cruising down the freeway, every bump in the road I hit bounces me off the seat half the time it hits so hard, sometimes has even knocked both hands off the bars, feels like I have no suspension at all. Don't want to spend the cash, but thinking about upgrading to new rear shocks (ohlins, jri, Howard at moto metal, etc), will replacing just the rear shocks with a better set designed for my weight and riding habits greatly enhance the ride, or not very much? Have the hand adjustable shocks set to the lowest setting, 180 lbs and ride solo majority of the time, and it is unbelievable how stiff these things are
How many miles do you have on your bike? I tried the Hand Adjustable shocks and found that on their softest setting they were good for two up but still to firm for riding alone. Maybe they will soften up over time. Love my Ohlins / Progressive setup.

I dropped the air pressure on both tires, 30 front 32 rear , made a world of difference on the ride. I was going to get new shocks, but now it rides good. we have the worst roads in the world here in Oklahoma, So it is a great place to compare ride quality .

You're probably in better shape up front since the Rushmore 's have the improved triple tree and beefed up forks.
On the rear I'm running JRI B's, 13 inch. Ride is much improved over stock.
I'd say get a 13" no matter what. You won't even notice much as far as the look. Last piece I'll say is stay away from Progressive on the rear.
I would think they would be getting softer after 5,000 miles. Are you still getting bucked forward? That's what happened to me. Believe it or not they are much better the the air shocks. Probably a good used market for your shocks.
