Chroming opinions please
Just had these covers made/engraved for derby and points and really happy with how they turned out. Someone asked me if I was going to have them chromed since they are currently polished aluminum. Have to admit I hadn't even thought of that. How do you all think they would look chromed? I really have no idea about the process of chroming but I'm assuming the black paint used to add definition on the derby cover would be covered up. Appreciate any opinions. Btw, got a decent quote from Sport Chrome and will use them should I decide to do it.

Chroming requires layers of copper, nickel & then chrome. Each layer will slowly lessen the details as it fills up the engraving. If you want it different, consider anodizing it, its not as thick as the chrome plating.
In the past Ive done things like this & put a high temp epoxy paint in the engraving ( I color matched a blue chopper I built) highly polished the surface & used clear coat high temp epoxy to cover it all. It lasted for years.
