Iron cross Bluetooth upgrade

I did the upgrade. Works nicely. However, I haven't used it that much as I had difficulty placing my phone in a location that did not cause it to overheat and shutdown (iphone 5 at the time). I had it in a handlebar mounted case (with a power lead running to it) and was using it last year during a Sturgis trip.
Just as an aside, my iron cross repaired radio broke again and was fixed under warranty from them (almost to the year). It was noted as "severe" vibration damage. My fairing brackets are fine and I replaced the handlebar riser bolts last year before I even got the radio back.. not sure if I'm happy about that as they were not overly pleasant in my conversations (claimed I must have broken brackets/etc). I am satisfied with the service I got from them, but I am not "happy" per say.

What is the range? I mean if your phone is in your pocket is that to far. Or do you have to be able to see your phone to use it. I guess what I'm asking is like in my truck I can scroll through my phone like I would a cd is it the same ? Can you just scroll like you do your cd player or do you have to use your phone and not the bikes controls. Hope that make sense.

I have the Ironcross Bluetooth and preamp output upgrades. I would recommend doing the preamps if you plan on running an amp. I have a tech mount handle bar phone mount that I put my phone in while riding and have never had my phone over heat even with 10 to 12 hour days on the bike. I have used it with a iPhone 5 and now with a 6. I would also recommend the techmount as it adjusts to fit different size phones with cases or not so you don't have to buy a new mount when you change phones. As far as range goes I sometimes leave my phone in the garage while washing my bike and the Bluetooth works just fine. There is no scrolling through your songs but the right arrow on your radio lets you go to the next song. I find that is all I need since I put my music in play lists on my phone. If you plan on keeping your stock HK radio I think this is a good upgrade. I'm totally happy with mine.
