There are many alternatives, How much $$$ is a good ride worth to you. I went with the Harley Premium adjustable shocks as I felt they were the best alternative for my budget. They are better than the stock air shocks but other than that I have nothing to compare them to.

I thought about the Ohlins from Howard but decided against them because from what I read (between the lines) I surmised they are more difficult to dial in than the pro action shocks.

I wouldn't overlook the seat, also. I put "Harley Hammock" on mine and it made a big difference in comfort. Plus I have a backrest.
