Default Should I be concerned? Crack in whitewall part of tire?

So I have never has white walls before so I'm not sure if this is normal. I was checking air pressure in my tires today and noticed the crack below. It doesn't seem deep and it seems like its confined just to the white wall area/material.

Should I be concerned?

Is it a scratch in the white wall? The white wall is usually a thin white layer over the black rubber.

That's what I was thinking at first but the shape of the scratch seemed strange and my paranoia got the best of me so I asked. It's kind of hard to tell how deep it goes.

I agree that it looks like a scratch, not a split.

As others have said looks like tar, or is that the black rubber ozzing out in the middle?

If your sure it's a crack, tear, rip does it start in the black area of the tire before the white wall? Or only on the white wall.

I blew it up and sharpened... looks like a rise, not a cut.. road tar..
Once you clean it, you will have to do the entire whitewall.. (will be cleaner than the rest of the tire)
