Default Shocks Need Replacement

I have a 2006 electra glide and the rear air shocks are done. I ride mainly solo (230 pounds) and was looking at another set of HD shocks or maybe a set of progressive 412s. Any suggestions/opinions

I love my basic S36e Ohlins shocks. Nothing fancy but they sure solved my complaints over the stock for under $600 bucks. They can also be rebuilt which is a plus if you are a high mileage rider or plan on keeping them for a long time. Another option is a stock set of take offs for cheap money if you were happy.

I just went through the same thing. I went with stock takeoffs from my dealer they had a set with 6 miles for 100 bucks.

Sounds as if you have an air leak somewhere. While many of us reckon the stock air shocks are only fit for the bin, they should stay up between rides! Could be as simple as a loose valve (they are the same as the wheels) or a leaking pipe union, which may be easy to cure. Use some soapy water to see if you strike it lucky with some bubbles. For a complete solution follow my suggestion above and contact Howard at MM.

There seem to be alot of the HD premium adjustable shocks available in the classified section. You should be able to get a set pretty reasonable. My brother just replaced his air shocks on his SG with a set and is very happy. My RG came with them stock and they are a definite improvement.

Ohlins from Howard at Motorcyclemetal.com prices are much cheaper than advertised... Make sure you mention this forum to get discount...

I got pro action after Howard said it would be a month to get the stock length ohlins. They are better than stock but can't help but wonder if the ohlins would be better.

I am very sorry if you mus-understood what I said. I said that an Ohlins shock that I specified will not be made until the middle of this month in Sweden. The shock is 13 1/4" in length, has a 93mm/3.661" of stroke, has an external compression and rebound sweep valve, threaded body, sit with full riders sag (R-3) @ 12", and no externally adjustable height adjusters.

Your shocks stock air shocks are 13" long, have 3" of stroke, and have no externally adjustable height, compression, or rebound adjusters. The spring pre-load is adjusted via air. There is no rebound and unless you have a defective shock(s) a 13" OEM air shock may sag 1/16" or 1/32".

I have plenty of 12 7/8" #2-#2's & #3-#3 which is 12 3/4" ~ 13 1/4". I am sorry if I did not make myself clear.
