Default Oil level at 3 quarts on full

I recently had my rings replaced on my 107. I am in the process of sealing, running through Dino oil changes. Oil was changed to Dino by the shop who did the work. When I checked the oil level a few hundred miles in, it was completely full. Completed the oil change with 3 quarts, ran it a bit and went to check the level and it is almost completely full. Usually 3 quarts bought her to half way exactly. Any ideas where the oil is coming from?

My 07 96" is the same way. I just attribute it to oil that didn't come out. I don't worry about it as long as the oil is midway on the dip and stays there. Saves having a 1/2 full container on the shelf.

Cold check was 80% full with 3 quarts, usually this would be at 50% before the cylinder change.

Did you not change the oil filter, or let it idle for a couple minutes on the kickstand before draining it? Are you draining it while the bike is upright or resting on the kickstand? I dunno, just throwing stuff out there.

Yeah that's the weird thing, nothing changed as far a difference in oil changes. Filter was changed, bike was upright, I have a lift with drainage pan, do it the same way everytime.

This is just a thought. No reason to put any credence in it but do the twinkie oil pumps have the same check ball as the Evo/Shovel oil pumps? Cause years ago, when that check ball gummed up or went bad, oil world seep into the cases. Just thowing the idea out there that maybe something like that is happening. And half a quarts winding up in the cases after shutdown.

That's what I was thinking, but maybe the metal shaving from the rings are clogging the pump. It started after the rear piston rings were replaced due to compression issues

sounds like the motor is sumping and not all the oil is draining out because some is staying in the crankcase. The oil pump o ring is easily cut/pinched/rolled upon install, and the oil bypasses the pump and fills the CC. Seen it and learned about watching a bike on the dyno, first it was good power than it was lower power, let it sit and same thing over and over. A way to check is pull the CC drain plug, you shouldnt get more than an ounce or two if its normal.
