Exhaust Swap ??

Exhaust Swap ??
i have an 07 flhtp (electraglide). rear y pipe split. if no alternative, i will simply weld it. since hd wants $220 for this pipe.
here's what i'm hoping can be done. replace that pipe or the whole exhaust with a different years exhaust whose rear pipe crosses under the frame, rather than the stock under your thigh setup on the left side.
i believe it can be acccomplished. does anyone know, or have done, this swap ?
really would love to get ride of that stock position of the rear pipe. burned so many rain suits, scorched so many pairs of jeans even after doubling the heat shields and insulation.
anybody know of a different years exhaust that will bolt in.
or the usual, just buy an aftermarket exhaust.
thanks

S&S, Chrome works, Cobra and Freedom all have the same pipe I believe. I run the S&S Powertune duals myself.

That's the easy way. If you're willing to update the oil pan to '09 you can run the later stock head pipe.

thanks guys for the replies, info.
so far, i just welded it back together and re-installed it.
i was hoping to eliminate the rear left exiting exhaust and move it to the right side somehow. Contrary to the general feeling here, i think the aftermarket header systems are WAY over priced. and the small increase in HP isn't worth it.
i like the innovation of FullSac's solution for a price i think is very reasonable. BUT it still leaves that thigh burning exhaust in exactly the same position.
i could have sworn i ran into someone with the same bike that said they installed something along the same line i wanted. i thought he said he put a '10 exhaust on that eliminated the left hand pipe, moved it to the right side. i figured someone else here had done the same thing.
thanks to the people offering help.

I used a Fullsac TD conversion, which was fine for extending the life of a tired old set of pipes, also convinced me to try a set of new TDs later, when I could afford them.
As for the later style of pipes, you have no mounting for them under your trans, which the later bikes do. There is a thread on HDF where someone modified a secondhand stock set of pipes to fit an earlier bike IIRC, but it may require a bit of fabrication, along with modifying the pipes to make them fit. So it is likely you can achieve your objective, but not by just bolting things on.
It is not HP which makes it worth paying out for new headers, but torque! The improved ride quality, smoothness and low/mid range torque that my Supermegs give me, over the TDs, is well worth the expense! The bike is transformed.
