Default Highway Pegs Mounting Tip

Okay, after staring at my crash bar peg mounts side-to-side with tape measure in hand for about an hour trying to get them even, I figured out a tip that got them dead nuts.

I pressed the edge of my tape measure flat against the outside of the crash bar and measured vertically upward from the top of the mount until where the edge of the tape measure couldn't stay flush against the bar anymore (because the bar started to curve away). Then I made the same measurement downward and compared side-to-side. Assuming the crash bar was mounted with precision (yeah, right) I think I got mine within 1/16th or so. Easily within 1/8th.

This is probably old knowledge, but I hope this helps someone. It came to me after 2 beers and a lot of head scratching and staring at the situation. My neighbors have now confirmed that I'm ready for the nuthouse.

I put mine on, grabbed a wrench, went for a ride with my heels on the floorboards and toes on the highway pegs. I adjusted same until myfeet/legs felt comfy in that position. The pegs may not be even to within a 1/16th of an inch but neither are my legs.

I had my lady look at them from the front with my bike upright and she sighted them for me.

I figure that when upright, if I can't see they're not even, neither can you.
