New Limited Vibration
#12
Allright Im throwing this out there. I know its been discussed before but Ive never gotten an answer for post 09 models. I would buy a 2014 Limited in a heartbeat if there was a motor mount that would eliminate at least 50% of the vibration. Multiple neck surgeries prohibit me from upgrading from my 2014 Heritage Softail. Ive done everything possible to convert my Softail into a touring but it is what it is, a Softail.
"2014 Heritage Softail 4400 Miles, 103 6-speed with Screamin Eagle Intake and Andrews 57H cams dynoed at Rock n Roll City Harley 92 HP 103 Torque, freedom 2 into 1 exhaust, I have both quiet and loud baffles. Screamin Eagle tuner included. Custom matched fairing, Pioneer receiver, Alpine speakers front and rear, Left remote stereo control, Tour pack, Back rest with luggage rack all quik release, Red LED engine lights. Operator Back rest! Willie G matching floor boards and grips AND matching front and rear running light covers. This bike has EVERYTHING! NEEDS NOTHING! $16500.00 or Best Offer. "
Softails are no different then touring bikes in that they ride and handle much better with suspension upgrades. I ride with many different bikes and watch their suspension for entertainment sometimes. I can honestly say, my softail rides comparably as smooth and nice, and even smoother then SG's which are lowered one inch, as touring bikes with stock suspension. This includes new 2014's models I have ridden with. In other words, you can upgrade your suspension, get a nice ride with a no-shake motor, keep that "sit in the bike feeling" AND have a bike that weighs over 100 lbs less then a tourer. Or, buy a tourer and have to upgrade the suspension to make it ride better then your bike if it had an upgraded suspension. Look into race tech springs with Ricors Intiminators. Get one spring rate softer then recommended. And, Progressive 422's are much better then stock softail rear shocks and only cost ~$350 new.
For full disclosure, I am looking at getting an 09-12 Touring bike. Although for very different reasons as my bike is a lot different then yours. It has an 88" motor, older style brake caliper, 5 speed, no abs...
