For 4K I can buy another bike. Doesn't the new HD come with a bigger rear now for 2006?

My brother in law did his himself on a 98 road king. I think he had around $1000 in it by the time he had the fender painted and new rim off ebay etc. With a little time and some skill it can be done pretty cheap.

My rear tire is only a 130mm and I cannot go any bigger without modifications. I wish I could do a 150mm, but it is impossible. The 130mm already is so close to the rear belt guard, it's not even funny! []

This is a 280 tire with the bags off. They can be put on in less than 5 minutes. Just seen this and others at Sturgis and they are way cool! All those who are blowing smoke up your --- about how they are not worth it and don't ride as well are full of ----! Just because we ride Electras we now don't have to look like grandpas anymore. $5000 is nothing for the right setup. This makes your bike different and thats why I ride HD.

I'm in the process of a "winter project" ( a bit early I know). I'm doing a 200 rear tire on it, and I'm doing it all myself. No FBI kit. A stock swing arm will handle the tire with no trouble. The problem is in the fender, and belt. Like someone else mentioned, I don't care for the super fat rear fender. If you are an advanced wrench, you can cut the fender and weld in a section to make it wider. You will also have to swap to a chain final drive from the belt. An easier route is to go to a 140 or 150. Not near as fat, but looks really good on a stock bike. If you have an older model with the wide belt, (02 back I think) you can go to a 140. If you have an 03 and newer with the narrow belt, you can go up to a 150. The 150 on the newer bikes looks really good.
