Default Bouncing Tour Pack

So was out for a quick little ride on my 15 RGS which has a quick detatch TP (I have yet to take it off and just had 1k service done). I noticed in my rearview that the TP bounces around a fair amount. I haven't had time to look at it, but will tomorrow. I know my detach TP on my 03 RK doesn't move at all and that has 100k on it.

I'm sure that standard dealership answer will be "they all do that." Which is BS. Anything I should be looking at tomorrow, other than the bushings?

My 09 with the quick detachable tour pack bounces, thought about removing the QD hardware but so far it hasn't bounced off yet.

Default Tour pak

I had a detachable tour pak on my 08 Electra glide and my friends told me that it moved up and down my ultra has factory mount and does not move maybe it's just the way it is on a detach setup

Default Check mounting

Had my tourpak bounce -although I have the non-detachable type. Turned out the mounting screws were loose.
It's possible the mounting hardware for your detachable is similarly not tightened correctly - worth checking this with the stealership.

Check your main support brace for the tour pak. It may be cracked or broken.

I know you said you were going to look at the bushings, but wanted to note that the plastic bushings are not round on these newer style frames like the older style frames on the docking hardware. They are actually oval. You leave them loose when installing, rotate to wear they fit and operate best, then tighten them down. Maybe they are sitting longer side of the oval up allowing some up and down movement on bumps and in the wind. Also check the hardware on the cam locks for tightness. Had two sissy bars this year with loose (halfway-out out of the box) cam lock screws!

Had a screw fall out one of the bushing. Dealer said it happens all the time.

On the plastic mount points there are notches in them. They are oval not round.
If you put all four with the notches facing up they will be at their "widest" point.
If they are either pointing forward or rearward they are at their "narrowest" point. (90 degree adjustment)
I have all mine with the mark in the top position, but just to warn you it is a bear to get off, just the way I like it. I mount mine in the solo position when on trips. Hd's lock doesn't work in solo position so I want it a challenge to take off.
I do have the brukus lock on it too.
No movement at all.
ps. they all don't need to be in the same position. Adjust as needed.

Yup, exactly as he said. When properly adjusted it doesn't move a lick.
