Default 09 wheels fit 06?

I know they are different sizes but just curious if I can fit an 18" front wheel off an 09 onto the front of my 06 without any major mods.

just so you know, if you take hd stock wheel/tire combos and compare the actual sizes, everything from the 16'' to the 19'' cvo are all almost virtually the same overall diameter. the only thing that you have to worry about is the bearing/axle sizes, and the brakes, pre-brembo vs brembo.

The 2006 has 1" bearings and the 09 ahs 25mm bearings. The simplest way to achieve this assuming the wheel is off a NON ABS bike is to buy an axle and spacers off a 2008 or newer bagger and install those with the 09 wheel. Yes, the 18 with a 130/70/18 tire will fit the front of your 06.

Thank you. I should have known better than not to use the search feature. Thank you for the simple explanation though.

Be prepared to move your '06 11.5" brake rotors over to the '09 wheel OR you'll have to upgrade your calipers to '08-later Brembos to use the 11.8" rotors that could have been still attached to the '09 wheel.

You also might want to replace those first version wheel bearings to later revision 9276A (from 9276) or equivalent if they haven't been done already.

thanks, i forgot about the brembo vs pre-brembo scenario. edited my post above to reflect this in case someone does a search in the future.

I also heard 09 and up models use different spec blinker fluid. Is this true?
