Looking at suowrshox or the progressive

Want to stay in the 650.00 range

Looking at the super shocks it looks like I would be about 1/2" lower than what I have from Harley
If I go progressives I can go same height or higher if I want

Just not sure what is right or wrong

I just put a set of legends 12 inch shocks on my 12 street glide. I could not be happier. The ride is great and in my opinion well worth the money. Progressives are a good shock as long as you buy their upper series shocks (444 on up) but if your going to spend that kind of money anyway, I would look at the legends or Ohlins.

One thing you might want to consider - a good pair of shocks can last you a long time and give you many happy miles of riding.
The JRI shocks I have, I took off my 13' Fat Bob and put on my 15' SGS
Get the shocks you want, keep your old ones & if you trade up bikes, put the stock shocks back on and put your good shocks on your next bike.

My 2 cents there are trade offs, cushy, less harsh ride does not mean great handling. You trade off a little, I was looking for my cake and I wanted to eat it. I don't mess with the dampening anymore, too much work taking the bags off/on every time you change something ie load, 1up, or 2 up, and type of riding. I still get some harshness if I hit a big bump

For some reason I am hung up on the lowering. Measuring the stock shocks on my RGS they are right around 12" center to center. I do not see much change when I sit on the bike.

I am sure if the springs were not as stiff as they are I would have some sag when sat on

Am I making a bigger deal of a .5-.3/4" drop in the rear?

I have the 944's on the rear and lowered the front with a kit from progressive, also 1".

Looks good and rides better than stock. Yes, 1" lower and better ride. That is best of both worlds.

You never said what you ride.... until a couple of minutes ago.

There IS a difference...

RGS and SGS come with 12" Premium Hand Adjustable shocks.

CVO's come with 13" Premium Hand Adjustable shocks.

If you are on a RGS or SGS, you can get 13" shocks, will raise you a net .75", at your height, not an issue.

That option offers more travel, and a better ride.

I have ran 3 sets on my FLHTK, stock 13" air, 12" Premium, and 13" Premium. There is a huge difference in that 1" between the Premiums.

I'm not knocking the aftermarket choices, but for me, the HD choices are pretty good.
