The tape itself is most likely jammed up in the pinch rollers. Sometimes if you can't get it out you can cut the tape and then use some Scotch tape and splice the tape back together. I don't think you'll be replacing that cassette with a new copy. Good luck.

Had this happen to me WAYYYYYY back in the day. Had to remove deck. It was an aftermarket one so not a big deal. Once that is done I could manually push back the rollers and the read head on the HU.

I then replaced it with a CD player and converted all my tapes to CD.

All happened 30 or more years ago, lol.

There is a way to manually eject it. Turn the radio off. Take a small, long handled allen wrench and insert it on the lower right hand side of the cassette door until it makes contact with the tape carrier mechanism. Gently push against the tape carrier until the tape moves up and out. Don't force it. Finesse it.

I don't listen to tapes, but I do own a nd use my service manual.

My 1989 S10 had this problem. I pretty much gave up, took needle nose pliers, and yanked it out. Then I went and bought an Alpine head unit and installed that. Life has been much better since.

I haven't used (or had anything that would accept) a cassette in years!

Are the tapes even still available for that format?
