Drive up next to a pump on your RH side, stay on the bike, do the credit card thing, nozzle in deep, let her rip untill it shuts off, then gently pull the nozzle out untill you can see the stream of fuel going in, and the level in the tank, ease up on the trigger, stop just as fuel gets to the lower plate of the fill hole. Read that here on the forum, been doing it that way now on 2 Harley's.

I stay on my bike, stand it up, and fill it. I've found a couple of local gas stations where the gas flow/pressure is not so high so it makes it easier to fill.

I stay on the bike and do the credit card deal on right side. I leave the ignition on so I can watch the needle move toward full. Don't know why I like to do that. Put nozzel in all the way until pump shuts off, then pull it out a few inches and feather it until it stops again. Usually then I can see the fuel level in the tank. I don't bother trying to get it any fuller than that.

Remember to reset your trip odo!

Welcome to the nut farm...

As for fillin my Ultra. I got a fat *** so after 150 miles or so I'm more then ready to pull in someplace and get off to fill it up...When I'm filling it I always keep my hand on the trigger so I don't get a surprise of gas coming gushing out all over the paint and HOT engine. I normally put inenough gas to where I can see it just under the gas cap neck. Works for me...

OK here is a "Don't try this at home" one. Last winter wifey I get caught out in the weather halfway thru a trip. She has about everything she brought on to keep warm. We stop for gas just at dark and she stays put leaned back on the tourpack. I get off, start fueling and she wiggles. GUess what happens next? Fuel goes all over the tank. THis was a really stupid move on my/our part. Luckly nothing happened except lesson learned.

Stand on the left side with the bike on the jiffy stand. Put the front of the nozzel in about 1/2"-5/8" below the plate and then push down so it is wedged in. Open it up all the way and have faith that it will stop when it is just below the plate. Rest odometer and refuel at 150 miles.

How come there haven't been any oil discussions this week?

My $0.02 and safety tip: Don't straddle the bike while refueling.
