I use both brakes down to 10mph or less , then only the back , that front brakecan pull you down if you grab to much of it at slow speed. If I need to scrub off a little in a curve I use only the front very easily.

years of moto-x and roadracing have left me using the front brake a lot. i think its kinda funny people think the front brake will "put ya down" lol especially on a harley where the front brake aint exactly grabby the rear is good for low speed manuvering but almost anytime you see a bike in a panic stop the rider is over using the rear brake...

Use both brakes all the time, when just barely moving both feet down and front brake.

Ditto what Pastor John said... and before the left foot goes down I always am in FIRST gear... May need to move on at the last minute...

Front break is where the stopping power is and its best to rely on it nearly 100% with the back brake being when you need a little extra or need to make the stop smoother. I use itmy mainly with my wife aboard so I can stop just a little smoother. Make the front the primary habit forming part of your braking. Can't tell you how many bikes I've seen that have run off the road trying to stop or slow downand there isan 8 foot black mark from where the rear tired was skidding. Bottom line don't rely on your rear brake to stop, especially in a panic situations.

On my RKC I used front brack almost always except in a emergancy. Now on my Ultra Classic I find that using the front brake at low speeds it seems the Weight of the fairing wants to pull the bike down! So I learned that rear break is the way to go at slow speed turning. The front brake will pull you down so be carefull

I find the rear brake very hrlpful for low speed work. It keeps me from doing the front wobble to stay up. When I am riding two up it helps with the control in a big way and especially when coming down from speed.

ORIGINAL: Arizona

I use both brakes religiously all the time, but the last few feet of a casual stop I usually am just on the front brake at that point.
yeah i second that. ill add if im in an easy controlled stop ill use just my fronts. a habit that came from the days of rear drum brks. it was easier to change the frt pads than the rear shoes.
