Whitefish is a nice little town with a fun downtown area. If you want great riding, Glacier is nice but you have to do Beartooth Highway and Chief Joseph. 2 of the best roads anywhere.

Stay in White fish at the Chalet Motel every time we roll through there. Good biker friendly place. The park is beautiful. Parking lot on top gets full so try and do it early..

Yea, "The Ball & Chain snapped a photo of a Grizzly running across the road in front of us near Lake McDonald, on going to the sun road.

The food / lodging in West Glacier are much better / nicer than East Glacier, pricing is about the same...

We enjoyed Lake5 Resort so much we spent a couple of extra days, very motorcycle friendly as the owner (Ron) has a couple of RKs, 1 with a sidecar.

We were there a couple of years ago, stayed in Kalispell, a good feeder restaurant in evergreen ,Cisco's. If we had time and our passports would have loved to gone to the park in Canada. A really good ride.

Banf is great, and Lake Louise is definitely something to see, but nothing beats the Going to the Sun road. Well, unless there is traffic, or RVs up ahead...

Just back from a 7220mi road trip that included Glacier. The east side of GTS road is closed. Road is torn up. Told by a park ranger that it will be a few months till its open. Beartooth hi way is a must! So is the Big Horns

That's strange, the website says this:

Going-to-the-Sun Road is open!

Vehicles may now travel across the park via Going-to-the-Sun Road. Logan Pass is now accessible from either West Glacier or St. Mary. Restroom facilities, potable water, and the visitor center/bookstore are all available at Logan Pass. Be aware that construction continues on the east side this summer, limiting the number of accessible turnouts and causing some delays in travel. Drive safe!

The East side of going to the sun road had several patches of construction going on late 8/13.

added, The construction was no big deal, once or twice we just shut the bike down (5-10 min at the most), stretched our legs and took a break, it's not like we were in a hurry...

Another + for Beartooth Pass, if it was either / or, I prefer Beartooth...
