Best ear buds for helmet use?
Hello All,
Just did 1700 miles with my Sena SMH10 helmet setup w/speakers mounted in the helmet. It was ok but for listening to music, it leaves much to be desired! So, for my return trip back, I would like to use the earbud connect instead of speakers. I do not have earbuds yet so I would like to ask those in this forum what earbuds do you use with a full face helmet that are comfortable and stay in your ears for those many hours of riding? Thank you in advance!

Try the S Plug. I found them on a BMW sight. I have used them for about 8 years and they work great. One thing, they block out most other sounds. Expensive, but worth it in my book.

I know you're looking for earbuds (and there is the Sena mount that is designed for earbuds), but as an option (and you may shriek at modding the foam EPS), I found that carving the speaker pockets out and moving the speakers more directly over my ears (rather than almost behind my earlobes) greatly increased the Sena speakers' volume. They obviously aren't the super-best speakers out there, but if your primary goal is greater volume, that's a cheap and easy way to get some.

These ones are cheaper than dirt, and because of the foam-rubber tips, they double as earplugs. i've been using them for about 4 years, they dont stick 'out' far from your ear either, so your helmet wont rub on them.

plugphones are also really great at blocking outside noise, but the quality on them is pretty crappy

I tour with rock bands- we've been using earbuds for over 30 years in live performance.
I have custom ear molds, but they can fill up with sweat on a long hot day, they also couple/uncouple in the ear channel with jaw movement so...
The past few years I use Shure 535's- expensive but they work, with multiple drivers, and a variety of tips which will make for comfort.
I use these onstage, I also use them on my bike.
you can see the shure line in your local guitar center store

One of the type of tips that comes with them are the foam type. You roll them between your fingers, stick them in your ear and they expand.

Sound quality is very good, and I find that I can still hear enough to be aware of what's around me. Pricy, but you they work very well.

I also use these to keep the buds in properly. They work great with my Klipsch ear buds.
