I kept my old 99 EG after buying a new 2015, my old bike will out pull the new one but the ride is vastly better and all the new technology upgrades. I have to much invested in my old bike and ride it around still to work and locally, it has over 83k miles on it now with no problems, it is a carb, simplicity, I like it that way and would drive it coast to coast, is a rock solid bike, the jury is still out on my new bike that is making whirring sounds now after 6k miles.
I bought a 99 ultra classic couple of years ago 37 k on it at 42 k I changed cams se- 204 new cyco tensioner,s cam bearings inner and outer! Vance and Hines pipe ,pc111 mines injected works good enough street riding !!!!
I just bought an 01 Standard in January, 12,000+ miles on it. I'm looking to buy a Heritage 90's vintage as well. I'd have both if you could afford it.

Well the new bike is beautiful, sorry to hear about the whirring noise, but at least it's happening now instead of after the warranty expires. I wish I could justify keeping the Heritage and buying the Ultra, I just can't at this point.

sounds like another vote of confidence for the early twin cams.

I would if I could, and I might. It's really hard for me to justify owning two toys I can only use about 8 months a year if I'm lucky, but I am beginning to consider doing just that.
