Default Hot or Cold at oil changes ?

Hey Folks, The manual says to run bike to normal temperature before draining oil. Probably to thin the oil some for better drainage. Make since. In the back of my head I'm always thinking it would be better to drain it cold, after anything that may be in the oil has settled to the bottom.

Just curious what other riders think or do?

I change mine warm/hot. I figure the oil flows better and all the crud that settles gets circulated again and flows out with the warm oil.

1.) I ride my scoot about 30 minutes or an hour, so the oil is hot.

2.) I do use the scavenger oil change process as well.

Every manual in the world will tell you to drain it hot. More oil will come out and it will flow better while draining.

That's what your oil filter is for.

I drain hot, then go in the house and get a bite to eat while it's draining.

plus if you do it hot and restart the bike afterwards there will be less time for the oil to drip off internal engine parts - before circulating oil fills the oil filter and pressurizes the system. since filter is sideways you cannot pre fill it and your system gets no oil until its filled

I have always drained my oil hot, not sure that's the absolute best way just the way I was taught when I was kid.
