Default DIY air ride bottoming out

Hey guys, i installed a DIY air ride and for the most part i like it (slow fill rate, but can be fixed with tank) when i ride i run 90-100 psi and it seems pretty smooth if i hit a rough patch i bump the air up and it runs great. However ive noticed when i have the gf on the bike i have the air ran up to 130 and i still bottom out. Now before the obvious remarks, she is only a 103lbs , im surprised that 2 shocks designed for a car cannot carry a combined weight of 300 lbs, anyone else having similar issues?? Im running the blistein shocks and maybe they are worse than the monroes?? ive heard both ways so im not sure that the issue. Does anyone run a different shock other than those two?? Thanks in advance

Interesting..... I use to have Legend and now I have Platinum Air. Neither one bottomed out running two up. I haven't heard anything bad about Dirty Air either. Suggest you take a look at all three. You can also look at AirFX as well.

I have the diy on mine and ride two up all the time. Run the pressure @ 100...I am 170 and she is 150 and never have an issue. Make sure both shocks are getting air. And check the gauge.

you could be having trouble with the valve- when you have some time to fiddle with it ( like at home)-

use a screwdriver tip or something to push the center of the valve and see if it moves and if it releases air then you know that the lines and shocks are holding pressure

if nothing happens, remove the valve core and see if any pressure is released- if so, you know the system is holding air and that the valve may have been gummed up -

the valve is easily unscrewed with a tool from your bicycle patch kit

it could be that the lines or the shocks are blown out- this can happen even with a bicycle pump which is why they sell shock pumps

have a look and see if you discover the fault

JD, there are reasons why companies specialise in suspension! All you are doing when pumping in more air is increasing the spring rate. The reason your shocks are bottoming out is because the damping in them is inadequate. It doesn't sound as if they are suitable for your application. Shocks are available that will give the two of you a bump-free ride and great comfort.

Try a different gauge. I have a couple that won't depress the valve core far enough to allow air to fill the gauge.

I ran Gabriels on my DIY and didn't have an issue 2-up and the wife is "slightly" more than 103.
