Road King Classic in the US
Hi folks,
I outgrew my Sportster and thought about upgrading in size and comfort. I fell in love with the road king classic, mainly because of the leather bags. Sadly, they are not sold in the US for whatever reason.
I found a nice one at my local dealer (2012 with 2900miles for 19k) but I´m afraid this one will be gone by the time I have the money to pay for it. Craigslist also doesn't list a lot of RKCs in my area. I don't know if changing the saddle bags is possible but either way, it would add 1k to the overall costs which seems unnecessary. How do you guys get your RKCs? Hope to find a used one or consider an import? No idea how much that would cost tho.
Thanks
Alex

Buy a new one, finance it, sell the bags (they would fetch a nice price, assuming they were vivid black), and buy replacement '13 leather bags from HD
There might be some retrofit issues, however, I've been reading how many people are making '14+ hard bags work on 13 or earlier bikes, I have to imagine it can be done the other way as well.

And, btw, someone on the forum leaked the colors for the 2016 models. There is no RKC on the model list for the US in 2016. It will again be available only in foreign markets.
