In service manual it says change oil and filter every 5000 mi or 8000kms. for regular oil. I use lucas synthetic 20/50 so it being a much better oil i change it at 10,000 kms. nice even number. i change the filter and prime at 5000, and 10,000 kms. working on 70,000 kms. primery still works and sounds like new. engine nice and clean when changed cams after 40,000 kms. just my .02

While he was giving the reasons. I just kept thinking BS, BS, BS ... You guys are just trying to get more money...... I have always done 5,000 on all my bikes.

Anyway, I am going to ask:
Bike: 2013 Electra Glide Ultra Classic
1. What is the fluid change frequency?
* Engine: ?
* Primary: ?
* Trans: ?
** Been told by one bike mechanic that the trans doesn't need to be change but every 20,000 miles or else it's a waste. Any advice to back this up?

2. Does it take the same oil in all 3 holes like my old 08 Dyna Superglide did?

3. Is it 20w50?

Thanks

I will probably be running Mobil 1 V-Twin
Do what you like, it is your bike.

Read the manual; follow the instructions. If it tells you to change the oil more often in Texas, do it - other than that I would do what it says.

I run Mobil1 Vtwin 20w50 in the engine
Red Line Syn Primary fluid in the primary
Amsoil 75w-110 in the transmission.

I love in south Texas.

I change all 3 every 5k. Might be excessive for the trans, but I guarantee it doesn't hurt anything.

i live right next door to you in la. and with this heat, i use redline 20-60 in the engine. change it every 5k.

i use shell rotella t in the primary, and at $13.00 for a gallon, i change it every 5k as well (and do a clutch adjustment)

only changed it once, but don't remember what brand of gear oil i have in the tranny.

Second the motion. No matter what folks recommend, you should look at your owners manual and consider that, too.

As to Texas, it's big; it wouldn't hurt to mention what part of Texas.
