He can certainly save thousands, however there is much more to a Rushmore than wet heads. It's all on the MoCo website after all!

For the money, coming from a Dyna, I'd do the 12. It is a great bike and the info system on the 14 has some tweaks yet to be made. While there are upgrades to the 14, linked ABS brakes, you can ride the 12 for 80-100,000 miles and never miss a beat. Also, 10,000 dollars adds a few mods to make it yours, if you buy the 14, you will still need to invest in mods to make it right for you. The 103 is a great motor, it has ABS and cruise, a decent stereo. Add an aftermarket GPS and call it good. The 14 will not last you any longer than the 12 and differences in my mind are not worth 10,000. (okay 9,000). Me, the discounted 12-13 touring bikes are the best buy and you will have 9000 in your pocket to enjoy it.

I bought my 2005 Ironhorse used. It was 11 months old, had about 1200 miles, and 13 months of warranty remaining. I paid less than half of new cost (about $32k new).
I bought my 2011 SG used. It was about 1 year old, had 990 miles, and warranty remaining. I got it for about $6k less than new prices. It had a removable passenger backrest and was otherwise 100% stock, untouched.
There are enough people out there getting rid of brand new bikes. Let them take the beating.
