Default Disengaging Cruise Control

I got cruise added to the EGC. It's the first bike with it and I like it a lot. But I have a question.

The owner's manual states that one of the four ways to disengage the cruise is to roll back or close the throttle, thereby actuating the idle cable roll-off (disengage) switch.

When I disengaged cruise that way tonight - rolled back on the throttle - I felt a little resistance first and then the throttle released and the cruise did disengage. I kind of got the feeling of OH CRAP, WHAT DID I JUST SCREW UP!!!??? [:-]

My question is is this a normal way to reduce speed say at an exit ramp? I prefer to do it this way rather than blip the brake. Idon't want to stretch cables or breaksomething if the cableroll-offswitch is a safetydevice.

AndI didn'tscrew up the cruisecontrol.....yet.

You didn't hurt anything, that is just the way it feels. I prefer to just flick the the front brake lever myself, because I don't like the way it feels with the throttle.

Yep... lil tap of the front break disengages it nicely. That way you can actually keep the throttle position and not start an immediate engine-brake as you are kinda doing now by rolling the throttle

Either brake, I always think something is breaking when I do it with the throttle also.

I also just tap the front break, but not enough to engage the break. After a while, you get used to tapping the break as 2nd nature.

Tap the break here, I started doing this after the cable started stretching.

I just blip the front brake to disengage the cruise control. The brake light shouldn't make anyone who might be behind me nervous. It's just one of the facts of the highway. Vehicles do brake from time to time and the brake lights give ya that advance notice before ya plow into them.

Actually, if ya only rolled off the throttle at the off ramp, any vehicle following may not realize your decrease in speed.
