Default 04 shift klunk

I purchased a 2004 electra glide classic from a customer about 6 mos. ago, only had 900 miles on it. Prev.owner could not handle and the bike sat foralmost a year. I have puton about 1000 miles on it since i bought it. Itseems to have a rather loud shifting klunk, my dealer says it is normal, in depseration I purchased a chain tensioncalled an M6 from Hayden enterprises but it stillshifts entirely too loud and this klunk is a little annoying, any feedback outthere on this problem or is this the nature of the beast?

Not sure why, but my bike doesn't have much clunk when I shift. I'm running Redline Heavy Shock oil, but not sure if that's the reason.

That's the nature of the beast. You might try a different tranny oil. I've noticed a big difference between cheap gear oil and a quality synthetic as far as shifting smoothness and noise.

But they do 'klunk'.

read this in the sporty section while searchin about ez clutch info. 1)check primary belt tension and 2)push bike a little forward before ingageing into 1st gear-this somehow lines the gears up? or even use a little hill or sloped driveway? my sportser can have a nasty klunk and is to some degree "normal" but the other day took it out to blow the dust off it and that made a 110% difference! hope this helps
