Default Thundermax on CVO Limited

Bike is a 2014 CVO limited. About to put on a cat less headpipe I have to get rid of some heat and tossed the question to my dealership service manager about a tuner at the same time. He really leans towards the Thundermax for a tuner. I really trust this guy for his knowledge as he used to work for HD in research and development and his son is a dirt racer and has several bikes a year donated by sponsor KTM and he does all the work on these race bikes.

So has any of you used the Thundermax on a 103 or 110 engines and if so, were you satisfied with it. Tks

Thundermax has been awesome for me on my 14 CVO Road King. I also decatted the headpipe but you will need an 09 headpipe or 18mm bungs added to yours or an aftermarket pipe that already has the 18 mm bungs near the heads.

Luckily this headpipe has both the 12mm and 18mm bungs

I have the thundermax on my '14 SG. Just have an aftermarket air cleaner and Rhineheart true duals exhaust. I love it and the bike runs great.

I have Thundermax and Rush true duals and air cleaner upgrade on 2014 limited
I am thrilled with performance and sound disappointed with gas mileage , it aint the extra 3 bucks its the range i hoped for. Thundermax installed at 1000 mile i ran auto tunes each at 1000 miles intervals i am at 3500 and will tune again today. mileage low around 30 ish moving to 35mpg hoping for 40 or better.
I did not do my homework and thought auto tune meant automatic but the tuning is simply remove seat, connect the computer to tuner, and run program , 10 minutes if you turn a wrench 20 for me!! Dealer [Kutter ] has been fantastic babying me thru the process and dealer expect the range to improve regularly. Again its only been a couple months and 2500 hundred miles and the bike goes and sounds great.

Mazz,

The answer to your low mpg is easy. All you need to do is make a few manual adjustment to your TM.

Simply raise your target AFR in the cruising range. For example, between 2200 to 3200 rpm and 15 to 35% throttle raise your target AFR to somewhere between 13.5 to 14.0. (stock is 14.7).

My TM is currently set to 13.7 AFR in the cruising range. I now average upper 30s around town and 43 - 44 mpg at 70 mph with the cruise set on the highway.

Easy peasy!
