I'm looking to upgrade my rear shocks due to the seals being blown in mine. I have an 07 ultra. What are you guys running and would you recommend them. Thanks

There are countless threads on shocks in here! I'm using Ohlins, courtesy HDF sponsor Motorcycle Metal and have had them around 5 years now. Ain't none better!

Progressive 944 with excellent lifetime no questions asked warranty....had a set of 940's and they just replaced them due to leakages and they had some really good milage on them.

Here's my story for Pro Action. Great shock and I did a side by side comparison between Ohlins and Pro Action. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...ock-story.html

I just put the Progressives 444 on street glide. went with 12.5" and its nite and day. Much better riding and the Mrs is pleased also. I was going to go with Olins but couldnt swing few hundred extra. for the 2-2 series.

Anything is better than stock. That being said if you are on a tight budget and were satisfied with the air shocks then a set of take offs might be all you need. What kind of money are you looking to spend $500, $600, $700? I'd think you could find stock shocks for $50.

==================

I also went with prog 944's (std springs) on my 09 FLHTCU which are significant better then stock airshocks that either bottom out when you adj so they dont break you back on bumps then if you adj so they dont bottom out then its like you have steel rods for shocks,horrible!

But when you install the 944's i had to take the time & patience to go on a rides soley to dial in/make quite a few adj to preload before they felt good getting to a point where they controled the bike decent & ddidnt feel so tight like you had steel rods for shocks.

At this times i have the 944's adj about best i can for decent handling and ride with the majority of my riding being 2up but i have to admit when the stock airshocks had approx 50lbs air in them for riding 2up per HD where it just about broke you back over moderate bumps the bike did handle best feeling very well planted like a sport bike which impressed me for such a bike bike.

But with the 944's adj to not break you back over bumps doesnt handle quite as well not having that well planted feel like you would on a sport bike in corners.

Currently i have my 944's (std springs) preload adj 5 full turns down tighter from Progressives factory preload setting and am overall satisfied with them afre finally getting the preload dialed in better for my setup.

I paid $589 inc shipping off ebay for the 944's ,would have liked to go with the Ohlins but prices i was finding on them at the time was approx $250 more which i could not do.

I would have really liked if the 944's had the ability to be adj to retain the planted feeling/best handling in corners while at the same time not being too harsh on moderate or larger bumpswhich i wasnt able to do with the 944's on my bike which is why i am am only 80-85% satisfied & not 100% satisfied with the 944's .

Scott
