i just put on progressive 444,s Got the heavy duty units. work great. much much better that those garbage stockers. For 485 bucks, imho you cant go wrong. a word of addvice. if you way less that me, 190 lbs or ride mostly solo, make sure you get the standard duty spring rate. yeah. some folks will suggest Ohlins and im sure they are awesome but i didnt have a grand to drop so these were perfect for my budget

 

I just put 444 Standard 12.5" So I went down a 1/4" in length but still much better then the stock Harley air shock they call 13", realty 12 3/4". I'm closing in on 1000 miles on them, when I find the sweet spot I will start a Thread with detail comparison to the stock. My Thread will be more for solo only riders like my self. I got mine to my door for $470. I have a 14 King.

 

So with my budget I guess the toss up is between the 944's and the 444's. Hopefully pulling the trigger this week on a pair. Thanks guys!

 

The pro action guys are in west PA. They build a top quality product made 100% in the usa. Might be worth your time to call george or dj. You might even drop in to see what they are all about. The thing with lower end shocks is that they are usually non adjustable damping wise. IMO that adjustment is needed to dial in the ride based on individual requirements.

 

Don't be misled by guys throwing around high pricing concerning Ohlins. The entry level Ohlins is light years better than most riders need. I got mine in '09 for less than $500 , custom valved. Contact Motorcycle Metal, a forum sponsor, for forum member pricing. The pricing on his website is retail pricing. I'm sure that Pro Action is an excellent shock as well as Bitubo, Super Shox, Works Performance etc. I've been around the block twice suspension wise during my time in the saddle and I feel most comfortable with Ohlins.
