Default Still torn about the quick detach tour pack...

Okay my Ultra has a sissy bar mount previous owner had the tour pack off...he put it back on for me when I bought the bike. I believe all the wiring is already quick connect...
So...i am trying to decide if I should do this mod...or will it be more than I can handle? My bike has a short windshield on it and I think the bike will look very slick without the tour pack...for kicking around town and such....
Don't get me wrong...I really like having it there for any distance traveling.

What do you think??? Do it or Not? or Have a dealer do it?

Thanks for your opinion!

Do it and do it yourself.

Do it yourself! You'll love the bike without the tour pak for bopping around! I have a detachable for mine for long trips, but I haven't had a chance to use it yet!

FWIW, HD recently issued a two-up detachable kit for EG Classics. Don't know exactly what it contains but it might be worth looking:

Do it yourself. It will look pretty much like this:

I like having off for around town and day to day. Takes a few minutes to put it on when I travel, no big deal. Get a bracket to mount to wall when not in use.

I think the removable tour pak kit would be my next purchase. I like the look for around town.

I just installed mine, and it wasn't too tough, aside from figuring out how to get a chrome trim piece off. It wasn't covered in the instructions or the shop manual, but was covered here.

Total time was about 3 hours, but my buddy helping helping has a broken leg, so he drank beer and heckled. Since he's on crutches, I had to bring him the beer, too. Oh, and we started in the side yard after dark working with flashlights. The neighbors probably got a good laugh out of our performance.

Good luck!
