Default NEW FROM HD--Tri-Bar Lighted Rear Fender Extension Kit

As part of HD's periodic release of accessories that don' make the fatbook for the year, HD has issued a slim catalog with new parts and accessories. The "Tri-Bar Lighted Rear Fender Extension Kit," part no. 91066-07 ('99 and newer FLHRC, FLHRS and FLTR models) and 91067-07 ('99 and newer FLHR, FLHT, FLHTC, and FLHTCU models) is pretty neat. Basically, it is a chromed ABS plastic piece that duplicates the fender extension and LED light on the Steet Glide, but minus the saddlebag fillers. List is $179.95. The LED is wired as a run/brake light. The LED is sold seperately (for installation on Street Glides and other bikes like mine with the Street Glide facia and LED installed) for $89.95 list.

Here's a link to the HD website; and picture below:

They also included heat shields (like the Kurys)for mounting under the seat; HD's are black.

My dealer had the kit and showed it to me. Basically, you remove the fender tip light and install the estension; if you don't have a fender tip lamp, the installation is probably different, hencethe seperate kits for Touring bikes with and without fender tip lights.

I bet that extension kit would look great if it was color-matched to the rear fender--can chromed plastic be painted?

[sm=jawdrop.gif]EXACTLY what I need. I was contemplating doing the SG rear fender/fascia conversion, as you already know, but I already have the saddlebag fillers that I waited and paid for and hated to toss these in the corner for the project.

Now I don't have to. Thanks Carl, I will be showing these to the Mrs. in an attempt to explain the charge in the checkbook!!!!!!!!!![sm=smiley20.gif]

I was looking at it the other day too, I really like the look, but on my FLTHCU it would look unbalanced without a similar treatment to the front in my opinion. I'm not considering removing the front lights either, As i like the nostalgic look of all those lights.

As a parts dude for the local HD....we just got a shipment in and all the new 07 parts just came in like those and the transmission interface covers, etc. etc. They do look good. Ya know what else looks good is the front fork extensions that cover the axle nuts as opposed to putting on just the axle nut covers.

UK$$, that kit will look sweeeetttt on your ride.

It will be interesting to see how many Touring bike owners who want more light on the rear of the bike will pop for this kit. I particularly like the brake light feature in the LED; wonder why they didn't do itoriginally with the Street Glide LED light; oh yeah, now they can sell the "improved" version to guys with one and two year old Street Glides.
