hi everyone, I plan on buying an 05 roadking. Checking prices at dealers they seem to vary quit a bit. Is the msrp about the best deal I'm going to get. I figured this time of year, in the land of 10,000 taxes(MN) I could swing a better deal. Whats the norm for these dealers??[8D]

Hey BigB, my experience is that you wont be able to haggle with the dealers, especially on 2005 models. It has been my experience with the dealers in my area, even if the bikes are a year or too old (and new), they still do not seem to be dealing too much. I bought an 05 Road King in September of last year, the price was in the mid 17's. The prices I have seen seem to vary between mid to upper 17's and mid 18's. The one thin the dealer that I bought form did, is they do not charge frieght and prep, where some do. Some other will try to ad in some money for the first service too, that way you dont have to shell out the extra 175.00 a thousand miles later. It will be interesting to see what other prices some of the others on this forum have seen.

Its economics and supply and demand. If you can buy at MSRP, be thankful, because its only currently that most dealers are willing to sell at that. Before It wasnt uncommon to buy 10% over MSRP. Keep in mind these bikes go to the floor serviced and ready to sell. Go buy a Jap bike and see how long it takes to get it out the door. Chances are it will have to go to service to have the battery filled and charged and have its vitals checked. The good thing about all this is the depreciation is minimal, and compared to anything else with a combustion engine, outstanding.

You may have to travel a few hours from your house, but you don't have to pay over MSRP. They may also throw in some extra chrome... I emailed all the delears in my area on the last bike I bought. Out of seven delears, only one would sell me what I was looking for for MSRP. Good luck.

MSRP is the norm out here , for all the previous stated reasons.

I just had 3 dealerships "work" for my business on an '05 FLHTCi. I kept getting them to 1 up each other and ended up getting the bike at MSRP minus $1000 with $350 in free accessories with another 15% discount for anything over the $350. Ended up with a great deal and had a blast doing it too! This is the time of year to buy!

Phil,

You did very well...congrats. Normally, MSRP is pretty standard.

Excellent Phil!

All I could manage to get out of them was a couple of T shirts<lol>

I tried every angle(except yours of course).
