ORIGINAL: Puzzled

I wouldn't think that there would be any adverse affect running a 18 & a 16. Any reason as to why? Just curious. The cost of the 16" and 18" are competitive. The 16" may have a slightly better ride over the 18" The 18" should handle better with the lower sidewall. Pros and cons.....

I currently run a 18" and a 18"

I'm waiting for my 21" front.
Frankly I can't make my mind up on what wheels to buy. I was thinking about a "Smoothie" on the rear for right now and keeping the front spokes until I can get to some bike shows and see whats available. I don't want to pay a grand for a rear wheel that can't be seen. I like the Harley Road Winder for a front wheel but it would be hidden by the stock rotor if I stay with the stock size.. Therefore, I think I need an 18" front. I'm also concerned about more narrow front 18" tire and what it would look like with the big RK front fender. I've seen pics and they look okay but I'd rather see this combo in person.

I hear you, its all good. It is amazing how a set of wheels and rotors transform a bike.

I was ready to plunk down my coin on the upcoming 08's as I'm on an 01 SERG but the more I thought about it the more I asked myself why? I'll just drop a few of those down payment dollars into my "OLD" 01!

My 16" ran a 130 front, my 18" runs a 130 front and the 21" will be a 120.

The red bike is a 120-21", the black bike is a 130-18"

18x3.5 front wheel with a 140/70x18 Metzler front tire gives you almost the same overall diameter as the original front and fits the fender with room to spare.

LOAD RATING is one thing to consider when choosing what to do with the rear wheel/tire.
