Since typically my rides are a couple of hours or more 3-4 times a week and a few long multi day rides a year I felt for my comfort versatility it was well worth it. Same reason I bought an expensive seat, new handlebars, crash guard floor boards, Zumo Roadtech GPS, and upgraded stereo system. I want to fully enjoy my time in the wind and not just get by. The adjusting on the fly is wonderful, easily removeable.

Only downside is limits on the seats it will work with, and I had to modify the backrest to work with the Hammock seat.
What was the fix to use an adjustable backrest with a hammock seat?

one downside to the adjustable.

on mine, at least, the adjusting cylinder lost its pressure and that part is not sold separately by HD.

I have had it on for many years though and the back rest was not always installed. since when I ride 2-up I can't run it.

I found a used one at a swap meet and switched out the cylinder onto mine, all is good again.

I like to be a ble to change the adjustment occasionally and the gas cylinder offers a tiny amount of give which has a slight cushioning effect.

I've had both and had to bend the bars back on both in order to be comfortable. I actually prefer the pad on the non-adjustable one for comfort though.

Here is a post about the adjusting the backrest for the Hammock seat. I posted here with pictures. There are a few others also, this wasn't my idea I got the idea from another post I found by searching for hammock seat and adjustable back rest. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...-backrest.html
