Thumbs up Greatly Enhanced Rear Brake Light Visibility

I ride my bike pretty much every day in the season, and at night, and never really gave the rear braking visibility any thought. Then I rode behind my friend from day into night, and it was an eye opener, to say the least. You can barely make out the two little 1 1/4" "Running and Brake" lights, even at night. They almost blend into the bike.

Here is my solution. I know there are others, but this look is good for me, and doesn't look like a cheesy afterthought add-on band-aid fix.

Additions include the HD Auxiliary Running and Brake Light Module, the HD Saddlebag Lid Spoiler Running and Brake Lights, the Kuryakin Saddlebag LED Running and Brake Lights, and converting the Tri-Bar Light to a running and brake light.

Here is the view from the rear now when braking:

Looks like its a face with big old ears next to it. Yep you'll be seen alright. I'll stick with my CD led brake lights.

I totally concur. I went to the Bright A$$ed light for my Ultra. When I hit the brakes, that strobe lets them know I'm stopping.

FYI: On July 1 the State of VA will allow motorcycles to have their rear brake lights strobe constantly.

A caution regarding those LED's. Get behind your bike now in bright daylight and see how visible those lights really are. Hopefully they are incredibly bright, but by no means are all LED lights brightly visible.

There's a gal I see fairly regularly on the commute home. She's got LEDs on her Harley. Brake light, tail light, turn signals and markers. They are all but invisible in bright light. Especially if you aren't right behind her and sitting down low.

I'm sure she thinks her bike is tremendously visible because of those LEDs. And perhaps in the dark of night it is. But in the bright of day, she's effectively running no lights at all.

Although I live in NC, just on the border of Va I typically spend more riding time in Va. Have had BAL on last couple bikes and never been hassled. I am aware of the passing of the law but frankly never gave a flip. One of the Va lawyer associations I keep up with keeps me informed.
