Anyone heading to Myrtle next week?
I haven't been to Myrtle in over 20 years and have never ridden down. Although I ride quite a bit, I've never attended any of the bike weeks. I'm heading to Myrtle with a neighbor next week and was curious what route people like to take.
Our original plan was to leave a day early and stay in Nags Head. From there we were going to take the ferries south then ride the coast line to Myrtle. I'm starting to think we might be better off just heading straight to Myrtle.
The Nags Head idea was mine, but I'm worried it will make the trek down very long. I was trying to think of a way we could do something different while staying off I-95.
What route do most people coming from the north take to Myrtle? Is there a way to avoid I-95 without lengthening the trip significantly? Has anyone ever taken the route I suggested from Nags Head?

I've been riding to Myrtle Beach from PA for 9 years running now, and will be leaving this Sunday. Takes me 10 hours with gas stops. After going thru Baltimore, I hit 95 around the beltways and stay on 95 until Exit 1 at South of the Border where Rt 501 starts. Rt501 takes you right into Conway then into MB. Never had any issues.

While reading this thread I realized that my first trip to MB bike week was 20 yrs ago. My how time flies and things change. I used to love cruising Ocean Blvd and getting private dances at the Crazy Horse. Now I hate sitting in the traffic jams and perfer to save my lap dance money to spend on my bike. I only live 3 hrs away so I might make a day trip out of it

We ended up bagging the Nags Head idea. Cost us $30 to cancel our hotel room, but it's probably money well spent in the long run. We will be leaving mid afternoon on Sunday and will ride until we feel like stopping. If the weather holds out and we hit the road early enough (doubtful), we might make the trip straight through.
