Default Picking up New SG Special got questions?

So I am curious coming from the dyna line what recommendations do you guys have for a stage one? I really like the "shorter" two into one pipes but I have heard they just suck for performance. (not the long 2into1 which I know are the best performers) I did a good amount of searching in the forum here and was not terribly convinced of anything and looking for your opinions. Thanks guys been here for a while but trading in my wide glide for a street glide this week.

Asking an exhaust question is like asking about oil. We all have our own preference. I've literally had 7 set of pipes, 4 with my softail and 3 with the sg. I still haven't found the exact pipe I like but for the time being I'm content with my stage 1 intake, cobra duals, monster ovals and pcv with a tune from FM

Yep. Questions like this tend to yield a list of everything that exists.

I agree I have battled a bit for my 2into2 big radius because they perform well for me and I love the sound. I really prefer the look of the shorter 2into2 pipes myself but if I am going to loose out on a bunch of HP and TQ its a tough decision. I would assume it can;t be that major maybe 5 hp 5 tq? But after speaking with fuelmoto they made it sound like the short two into one pipes are NO GOOD and they know their stuff but I just did not want to hear that I guess LOL being I love the look

I personally prefer the 2 into 2 "look" for baggers but many will disagree. As far as performance...to say the 2 into 1 "sucks" will not go over well here. I have not seen dyno numbers comparing the two different exhausts but many of my friends have the 2 into 2 and would run nothing else. You decide which one suits you best.

When I say 2into1 I was specifically speaking of the "short" two into ones not the long tube 2into1 I realize they are the best for performance but I just don't like the look much. I edited my original post to make sure I was more specific on the 2into1 pipes I am speaking of.

I like True Duals...

And unless you are "paper racing" your buddies with dyno sheets or looking for thousandths on the track, you will be just fine.

Your ***-dyno will never know the difference.

Red light racing is more about the rider than the bike.

What I'm saying is... get what YOU like, and you'll be happy.

Perfect this is exactly what I was thinking, but was a bit worried after hearing that its a MAJOR difference. As you said I will never notice the 5% if that difference, I never did on my wide glide and never regretted the 2into2 there. Thanks for the insight

this is first time i have run a short side dump. i have stage one done and butt dyno i cant tell a diff from my last RG w/ true duels and CFR's slip ons (which are supposed to rob so much power)

when i cam this one and dyno it is when i'll know what performs better for me. but unless you have extended bag i think the 2-1 looks funny IMO.

In time I plan on extending the bags but they will be stock for a while. I don't mind the look I have seen a few pictures and its not so bad. I think the long two into ones that look like there should be another pipe on the otherside look funny without extended bags.
