What's the most amount of gas you put in?

I ran my 06 Road King out of gas, spitting and sputtering for about 1/2 mile. Filled up full at 5.21 gallons. On my way home, 165 miles, it was backfiring, farting, burping and wouldn't go over 70-75 miles. When I started the bike the next day, the fuel pump didn't sound right. Took off the canopy and the fuel pressure regulator bowl's dog ears had broken and it was sucking air bad. Fuel pump was fine, but the plastic bowl gave out.

Yep and has happened in a couple of the other threads. I have yet to have any proof shown to me and I've asked every time it gets brought up. If it was truly the case, we'd be seeing fuel pump threads here like oil, tuner, exhaust..... questions. And, I'll add that it is the fuel that is ran internally through the pump that aides in the cooling, not sitting in a bath of gas.
I bet that if you ran your tank totally out of gas and continued to run the fuel pump, it'd burn up. That is, if you could find a way to do that. I always ride full to empty.

Just for those who may not be aware
the gas in the tank cools the pump- best practice to run 1/4 tank or more as much as possible- better cooling, pump lasts longer.
we all get into situations where we are pressing it...but when you have a choice run higher levels.
same for any fuel pump in the tank...most efi cars and trucks

Was thinking the same thing but sometimes running real low can't be avoided. Oh for the days of my old Evo with no fuel pump!
