Default No 6th Gear

So I changed out the stock primary gear to a 30 tooth gear and after I got done took scooter out for test ride and can't get into 6th gear, anyone have an idea what could cause this?

sure your not in 6th and the light isn't working?

should go right into sixth gear. i would agree after changing gearing on these new bikes the sixth gear light will not come on as the ecm reads the mainshaft speed and engine rpm's to turn the light on. also the speedometer will be off.

Understand what you are saying but 1 down and should be 5 up but only getting 4 up.

IF you used an air impact tool on the hub nuts, you may have damaged the shifter dogs.



this is not unusual and for many years H-D warned against air impact tools on the clutch hub, tranny shaft and the comp sprocket ( knock the magnets of the rotor...then they bash the stator).

this has really got me wondering what's going on. should not even had to remove the clutch hub to change out the motor spocket. is your linkage adjusted properly ? could have damage something, but i've used an impact on many,many compensators thoughout the years without ever any damage. on the newerr bikes i've always used on torque wrench.
